About JOE KNOWS ( fully insured)

A squall built on the lake reaches Youngstown's South Side all at once, riding a northwest wind down the brick hillside streets until the porch lights go soft and the curbs disappear. JOE KNOWS ( fully insured) works those midnight hours, plowing drives and lots clean, cutting through the ridge the city plow left across the apron, salting the steep short walks that turn treacherous first. Snow here does not arrive politely and it rarely arrives once, so the truck goes back out and does it again before the morning shift. Nothing about it is complicated; it is simply a matter of somebody being awake and moving while everyone else sleeps. Come daylight, the drive is black and wide and ready, and that is the entire report.
