Spring Green

About Spring Green

Most of a central Ohio winter reads in two colors, brown and gray, and then one week in late March the green comes back — first in the thin warm strip at the south-facing base of a wall, then all at once across the open lawns near Otterbein's sandstone halls and the front yards along Home Street. Under a bright noon it is almost loud. Spring Green does lawn care in that returning country: mowing once the ground firms up, string trimming, edging, and the steady maintenance that carries a yard from the first cut through the long humid middle of summer. Grass in Westerville asks for attention on its own schedule, not yours — a wet June week can double the work of a dry one. Doing it right means showing up on the lawn's terms and leaving behind something even, tidy, and unmistakably tended.
