Reichle Brothers

About Reichle Brothers

Four in the morning, January, and the wind that has crossed the open water of Hoover Reservoir comes over the east side of Westerville with nothing at all to slow it down. Snow off that stretch does not fall so much as travel, laying itself sideways across every drive between Africa Road and the water. Reichle Brothers is out in the middle of that hour — plow blade down, walks shoveled to the concrete, salt put where the melt will refreeze by six. Snow removal is the whole of what they do here, which means the whole of what they think about from the first flurry to the last thaw. The reward is small and exact: a driveway already open when the alarm goes off, headlights finding black pavement instead of a wall of white.
