The Pressure Platoon

About The Pressure Platoon

Four in the morning, dock light, breath hanging in the air, radios on — a storm shift starts like a muster. The Pressure Platoon lines up for it in West Chester Township and works north toward Liberty Township and Monroe, plowing drives and parking lots, opening sidewalks and entryways, and putting salt down so the afternoon melt does not come back as glaze after dark. The specialty around here is the mixed storm, half rain and half snow, which packs into something closer to concrete than powder and takes more passes than anyone would like. The reward is narrow and completely real: an empty, black, open lot at sunrise. Then back out for whatever comes next.
