A & J Landscape Center

About A & J Landscape Center

In April the Ottawa River — Ten Mile Creek, to anyone who grew up in Sylvania — runs high and brown under the bridges, and the lawns along it wake a week ahead of the rest of town. A & J Landscape Center starts there: first mow, first trim, edges cut back after a winter of creeping. Through summer the routine is weekly and unglamorous, height held steady, walks blown clear before the truck rolls on. Autumn turns it all to leaves, cleared off the turf before the rains flatten them. Sylvania is a town of settled neighborhoods and old trees, and both look better over a lawn that has been kept.
