About Maier Lawn Maintenance

On an August dawn the fog lifts off the water and slides across the causeways, and for an hour the whole township smells of lake and cut cattail. Maier Lawn Maintenance starts in it — mowing, trimming, edging, blowing the walks and drives clean — working the shore roads before the day's traffic wakes anyone. Yards along the channels run small and irregular, tucked between cottage drives, so it is mostly hand work and short careful passes. The reward is a strip of turf between a porch and the water that looks entirely intentional, right down to the last inch along the stone edging. Fall cleanups follow the same shoreline once the crowd has gone home and the maples over the channels begin to let go.
