About Zenith Landscape

Late on a July afternoon the light coming up Columbus Avenue turns long and gold, and the limestone curbs Sandusky was built out of hold the day's warmth well past supper. Zenith Landscape spends those hours in the yards between Washington Park and the water: mowing in even passes, edging the beds back to a crisp line, trimming what the mower cannot reach, and raking the leaf drift that fills these old side streets once the maples let go in October. Sandusky's diagonal grid means almost no lot is a simple rectangle, and there is a quiet pleasure in making an odd corner lawn look deliberate. Then the cold turns the bay slate-colored, and the work moves to plowing, clearing walks and spreading salt — often late at night under the lamps, so a business opens on bare blacktop and a neighbor steps out to a path already scraped. It is ordinary labor done carefully, in a town that has always faced the lake and taken its weather as it arrives.
