About Fairchild Trucking & Excavating

Winter arrives in Salem Township across open ground — a gray afternoon, a wind with nothing to slow it, and by midnight a foot of white where the driveway used to be. Fairchild Trucking & Excavating keeps the hours nobody sees: the long farm lanes, the gravel turnarounds, the last pitch of hill a car simply cannot climb. Plowing out here means knowing where the ditch line hides under all that snow, and leaving room enough for the mail truck and the school bus both. A drive opened at four in the morning, ice control worked into the slick spot at the bottom of the grade, a porch light coming on to find the way out already made — that is the good part of the job. When the sun finally comes up, the fields lie like fresh paper and every drive in sight runs one clean dark line out to the road.
