Blackie's Excavating

About Blackie's Excavating

When a clipper drops down out of the northwest, there is nothing between the open fields and Piqua to slow it — the snow comes sideways and stacks against every driveway on the north side of a road. Blackie's Excavating runs those nights: plowing drives and lots, clearing walks, opening the entrances people need before the first alarm goes off. Miami County winters are a study in drifting, and a road that was bare at midnight can be shut by three. There is a particular pride in a blacktop drive pushed clean to its edges while the sky is still dark and the wind is still working. By the time the coffee is on in the kitchen, the way out is open.
