About Powell Outdoor Design

Oxford in October is a study in warm color: red brick and white cupolas catching the late-afternoon sun, maples going scarlet against them, long shadows reaching across the lawns. Powell Outdoor Design approaches a yard the way that light approaches the town, looking for line, balance and the right place for each thing to stand. Lawn care is the foundation of it, a clean-cut, well-edged green that lets beds, walks and plantings read clearly. Autumn is a season for shaping as much as mowing, trimming back the summer's overgrowth so the bones of a yard show again. The finished lawn has a composed, deliberate look, as though it were drawn before it was grown.
