Royaltons Cutting Edge

About Royaltons Cutting Edge

The middle of town is a crossroads on high ground, State Road running north to south, Royalton Road cutting east to west, and everything else spoking away from it into subdivisions and long country drives. Royaltons Cutting Edge works outward from there all winter, plowing driveways and lots, clearing walks, and salting where the wind scours a surface bare and then glazes it. A blade carried at the right angle takes a drive down to pavement in one pass instead of three, which is the whole argument for doing it carefully. Nights run long when a band parks itself over the ridge. Morning comes anyway, and the pavement is black and the banks are square.
