Mosquito Creek runs low and iced along its edges in January, and the cold in the Mahoning Valley has a way of settling in and staying awhile. 2M Excavating spends those weeks plowing Niles driveways and clearing lots before the first shift is even up. The work begins in the dark, blade set, the route learned so well it hardly needs the headlights. Walks get shoveled and treated so nobody has to guess about the last three steps to the door. Nothing fancy about any of it, just an open drive at six in the morning, which on the right day is worth quite a lot.
