About Irvin Lawns

On Newark's older streets the houses stand close, the porches run deep, and by late July the cicadas make a sound like heat itself. Irvin Lawns moves through those blocks with a mower and a trimmer — cutting on a set schedule, edging where lawn meets sidewalk, tidying the strip between the walk and the curb that everyone else forgets. Small yards reward precision, because a missed line has nowhere to hide. When the leaves come down the work turns to raking, blowing and hauling until the grass shows again. A tight, even lawn in front of an old porch is a good thing to drive past.
