Brown's Property Services

About Brown's Property Services

At four in the morning the courthouse on the Newark square stands lit while the snow goes sideways past it, and almost nobody sees this except the people already working. Brown's Property Services is out in it — blade down on lots and driveways, shovel and blower on the walks, salt laid ahead of the hard freeze. The payoff comes hours later, when the square fills up and nobody gives a thought to how they got there. Winter in this valley rarely arrives politely; it comes on a west wind and takes the low ground first. Clear pavement before opening time is the entire point of the night.
