About Stutzman's Lawn & Landscaping

Winter arrives in Tuscarawas County from the west, coming down over the ridge roads out toward Sugarcreek long before anyone in New Philadelphia has the coffee on. Stutzman's Lawn & Landscaping is already out in it — plowing drives and lots, shoveling and salting walks, so the first car of the morning has nothing to argue with. At four a.m. the valley fog has frozen onto the fence wire and the whole job comes down to one thing: make a way through, and make it early. When the ground turns green again the same properties get mowed, trimmed and edged, raked out and tidied up from one end of the season to the other. It is steady, unglamorous work, and the reward is small and real — a clear drive at dawn, a straight cut line in June, a place that never has to think about either one.
