About Bob Wilson & Son Excavating

Before the shops open around Mount Vernon's Public Square, new snow lies untouched on the sidewalks and the soldiers' monument wears a white cap. Bob Wilson & Son Excavating is already at work, turning heavy equipment to winter duty and clearing driveways ahead of the Knox County seat's busy morning. An excavating business understands moving material and where to put it, and snow gets the same treatment: plowed back cleanly, stacked out of the way, entrances left wide. Down along the Kokosing River a cold mist hangs over the water, while up on the hills the drives come open one at a time. There is something good about watching a town wake to bare pavement.
