Spring Green

About Spring Green

Rain comes up the Muskingum valley in sheets some spring weeks, and above Marietta the low fields hold water long after the sky has cleared. Spring Green times its cutting to that, mowing when the ground will take a machine and trimming and edging so a yard still reads sharp on a gray day. When the year hardens off, the work becomes plowing and walkway clearing, with ice control wherever a drive sits in shadow. This valley hands out plenty of weather to work around, and the reward is in the contrast: a lawn brought back to order, a drive opened wide. Both are visible from the road, which is rather the point.
