About Fortman Outdoor Services

The light stays late over Loramie in July, and a good part of the mowing gets done in it — the land wide and level, the old canal line and the lake off to the east, a church spire standing up out of the corn from a couple of miles away. Fortman Outdoor Services cuts until the sky goes amber, trimming around light poles, downspouts and the corners of outbuildings, edging drives so the gravel and the grass each keep to their own side. A big yard has its own reward: one long straight pass, then another, until the whole of it lies even and combed. Spring and fall cleanups carry off what each season leaves behind. Nothing fancy in any of it — just a lawn that sits even from the front steps out to the mailbox.
