Green Acres

About Green Acres

West of Lima toward Elida the subdivisions end and the bean fields start, and some yards sit right on that seam with a quarter mile of open sky behind them. Green Acres mows out there and in town both — cutting, string trimming, edging, drives and walks blown off once the mower shuts down. Ground like this grows grass fast in May and slow in August, and the schedule bends to match it rather than the other way around. Storms cross that flat country hard and leave sticks and limbs behind them, so cleanups are part of the arrangement, spring and fall alike. A big open lawn cut in even lines is a good thing to look at from the road.
