About Ace Home Improvement

Chillicothe Road at four in the morning is a corridor of orange light and blowing white, and that is the hour Ace Home Improvement is already out in it. Snow removal in Kirtland is a business of climbing — the land rises hard off the lake plain here, so a storm that was only flurries down in Willoughby arrives on this ridge with real weight. Plowing driveways, clearing walks and entry steps by hand, spreading de-icer on the shaded stretches that never catch sun between December and March: the work happens in the dark so the day can start like any other. There is a specific satisfaction in a drive cut wide and squared to the pavement while the house lights are still off. By the time the coffee is on, the way out is open.
