Splash and Grass

About Splash and Grass

Early-summer mornings in Kent arrive with mist off the water north of town, the low ground white to the knees until eight o'clock. Splash and Grass starts out in it, dew heavy on the blades, the first pass cutting a dark stripe through all that silver. Wet grass asks for a sharp blade and an unhurried pace, and the lawn holds its color better for both. Then the trimmer goes where the mower cannot reach, and not a clipping is left on the front steps. By the time the mist lifts, a few Kent yards already look like the day is going well.
