An excavator learns the shape of a county: which hollow holds water, which gravel lane wants a crown, where frost lingers past noon. Sexton's Excavating works both halves of Jackson's year — plowing and salting driveways and lots when winter comes down hard on the ridges, then mowing, trimming and cleanup once the ground dries out. February is a churn of thaw and refreeze here, and some lanes need attention twice inside a single day. Summer swaps blade for deck: long drives mown right to the edge, brush knocked back, sightlines opened up at the road. Same trucks, same hands, whatever the ground happens to be doing.
