About Winter Services of Ohio

This was the Great Black Swamp once, and the flatness it left behind lets a snow squall run for miles without a hill to break it. Winter Services of Ohio takes the graveyard hours — plowing lots and driveways, clearing entries and walks, laying salt so the first car of the morning finds bare pavement instead of glaze. There is a stillness to a two-o'clock parking lot with the blade down and the streetlights going yellow in the falling snow, and a real satisfaction in leaving it clean behind you. Open ground rebuilds its drifts by daylight, so the trucks come back around and do it again. Holland, Springfield Township, Maumee, Swanton, Whitehouse and Toledo's west side make up the territory.
