About Lawns by Lucas

June evenings out here run long — the sun drops toward the mouth of the Vermilion River and the light lies flat across the fields for another hour after. Lawns by Lucas often finishes in that light: the mower's last lap, then the trimmer around the fence posts and the propane tank. Mowing, edging, trimming and seasonal cleanups make up the week, yard after yard along the township's straight roads. The reward is simple and it does not get old — a lawn that reads as cared for from the mailbox, and a driveway blown clean of clippings before the truck pulls away.
