About Oso Contractors

Snow out here does not so much fall as travel, coming off the open fields sideways and piling against anything that stands still, so a lane plowed at midnight can close again by four. Oso Contractors runs the back roads of Preble County through that, plowing farm lanes and lots, opening turnarounds wide enough for a truck, shoveling the walk to the door and salting the ice underneath it. Wind is the real adversary here, and the plan is always about where to put the pile so the next gust does not hand it straight back. The nights are long and cold and the coffee is bad, and there is still something in breaking open a lane to a house that was shut in. Morning finds the drive open and the walk bare, which is the entire ambition.
