Hedgewood Lawns

About Hedgewood Lawns

Gallipolis was laid out in a tidy grid by its first French settlers, and the town still carries that order — straight streets running down toward the City Park bandstand and the long green edge of the Ohio. Summer here is deep and slow, cicadas up in the sycamores, park grass cut short for the band concerts. Hedgewood Lawns keeps yards around town in the same key: mowing, trimming and edging, borders cut back off the sidewalk, grass held even from porch step to street tree. There is a rhythm to a Gallia County July — mow, rain, mow again — and it does not let up much before September. A trim front yard on a river-town street is a kind of good manners.
