The Lawn Mowery

About The Lawn Mowery

Forestville sits on the shoulder of the Ohio River valley, where the ground east of Cincinnati keeps tilting toward the water and the yards tilt right along with it. Mornings, fog climbs out of the river and lingers in the Clough Creek hollows until the sun burns it off the ridgetops. The Lawn Mowery mows and edges those sloping lots all through the growing months, then turns to plowing and clearing when a hillside driveway glazes over and a car simply will not climb it. Winter here is often less snow than ice — one night of freezing drizzle, and the whole hill has to be opened before anyone can get down toward Beechmont. Bare pavement and a straight-cut lawn are small things, and they are the entire difference between a day that works and one that doesn't.
