Lawn Enforcement

About Lawn Enforcement

Late October in Englewood, and out at the reserve the marsh goes tawny while the cattails start letting go. Lawn Enforcement takes the turning year seriously in both directions: through the green months it is mowing, trimming, and holding a straight edge along every walk and bed; once the ground hardens it is plowing drives and lots, clearing walks, and keeping ice from settling in. The name is a joke that the work itself never makes. Order is the whole point — a lawn that reads level, a drive that reads open. Between those two ideas, most of an Ohio year gets accounted for.
