About Ray's Lawn & Home Service

An ordinary Thursday in Defiance township: the wind is out of the southwest, the porch falls into shade by four, and the yard needs an hour. Ray's Lawn & Home Service turns up for those hours — mowing, trimming, edging along the walk to the front door, and raking and hauling the leaf fall that piles against a foundation every October. Around here a home place is a lawn, a drive, a couple of shade trees and whatever the season is doing to all three. Leaving a yard swept and cut so the house looks settled on its ground is the plain reward of the job. Small things, repeated, and the place stays itself.
