About Scioto

The river this business is named for throws fog on cold mornings, cold enough that the mist freezes onto the railings along the Scioto Mile. Scioto is a snow removal business working the city on both sides of that water, from the Franklinton flats to the riverfront blocks downtown — plowing lots and drives, clearing sidewalks and building entrances, salting the steps and ramps where foot traffic starts early. Downtown snow is its own problem: it has to be gone before the doors open, and there is nowhere obvious to put it. So it goes out cleanly, pulled off the walk lines, stacked where it will not spill back. A city block that looks like nothing ever happened is the finished piece.
