Down where Alum Creek, Blacklick and Big Walnut all find each other, the year has two clear halves, and Pinkston's Lawn Maintenance works both of them. From the first cut in April to the last one in October: mowing, edging, trimming, bed mulching, seasonal cleanups, feeding and weed treatment so the turf holds through a hot Ohio August. Then the trucks change over and it becomes plowing, shoveling and salting drives and walks on the nights a system rides up the Ohio Valley. Same properties, same hands, a different tool in them. There is a steadiness in that arrangement, and the yards along those creek bottoms show it.
