Kept Companies

About Kept Companies

South of the city the ground goes wide and the buildings go long — acres of asphalt out toward Groveport and Rickenbacker that have to be open when the shift changes, snow or no snow. Kept Companies takes on that scale of winter: plowing drive lanes and lots, clearing walkways and dock aprons, spreading ice control before the afternoon melt refreezes at dusk. It is night work mostly, headlights sweeping a field of white, the blade laying down clean lines nobody will admire in daylight. But at six in the morning the trucks roll in without a slip and the day simply happens. That is what the night was for.
