About Dorian Gray Maintenance

Out in the Franklinton bottoms the Scioto lies flat and dark, and the season's first snow goes down on it like a page turned. Dorian Gray Maintenance works the hour before the city wakes — headlights, a plow blade, the long scrape and the silence that follows it. By the time the west-side streets go gold at sunrise, the drives are open and the walks are down to bare concrete, salted at the shaded corners where ice likes to hide. Columbus winters arrive on the clipper wind, quick and sideways, and the task is simply to be there before the first car needs to leave. That is the whole job, and it is a good one.
