About GroundTakers Inc.
Winter in the Mill Creek valley announces itself sideways — sleet across the flats at Camp Washington, then a hard flip to snow long before the first shift wakes. GroundTakers Inc. works those hours, plowing lots and driveways while the viaduct lights still hang orange over the water. There is a plain satisfaction in a clean rectangle of blacktop at five in the morning, salt laid down in an even sweep, the curb line visible again. Cincinnati's basin holds cold the way a bowl holds water, and ice lingers wherever the hills shade the pavement; that is where the second pass goes. By the time the lunch counters open along Colerain, the way in is already open.
