About From The Soil

Every lawn in this town is an argument with the clay underneath it, and From The Soil takes the argument seriously. Mowing and edging keep the surface in order, while aeration, overseeding and feeding go after what lies below, opening the ground so roots can reach down to where the water waits. Around Madisonville and Mariemont the older yards will grow beautifully once they are given air. When the year turns cold the same attention shifts to the driveways — plowing, walks cleared, treatment where a shaded corner refuses to let its ice go. The name describes the method: start underneath, and the green mostly takes care of itself.
