Fog sits on Sippo Lake most October mornings, burns off by nine, and leaves everything west of Canton smelling like wet leaves and cold ground. Kirkham Landscaping works both halves of that year — mowing, trimming, edging and mulch through the growing season, then leaf cleanups, then plowing, shoveling and salt once the ground locks up. There is a week or two in November when the same truck carries a leaf blower and a bag of ice melt, and it feels like the honest middle of things. Winter here is rarely one big storm; it is a long argument of clippers and thaws, so the work is steady rather than dramatic. Either way the aim holds: a property somebody is glad to pull into.
