John's Lawns

About John's Lawns

Cadiz was built high on the ridge, so the courthouse block looks out over Harrison County hills that fold away east in blue layers on a hazy August afternoon. John's Lawns mows the yards on that pitched hilltop and the places strung along the ridge roads leaving town, where half a lawn falls away toward the hollow and the mower has to be handled with respect. Passes are taken across the slope, trimming worked down the wall and around the porch footing, and the steps and sidewalk blown clear so nothing gets tracked up to the door. Grass here can stall in a dry spell and then take off after one good storm rolls up the valley, and the schedule bends to that instead of fighting it. A hillside yard cut even, with a straight line where the lawn meets the road bank, looks good from three ridges over.
