Blackie & Son Excavating

About Blackie & Son Excavating

Cadiz is built on a hill, and its streets climb hard enough that a half inch of ice can slow the whole town to a walk. Blackie & Son Excavating turns out on those nights — clearing drives and lots, opening approaches on a grade, taking walks down to footing so the first steps of the morning are honest ones. Snow in this corner of eastern Ohio arrives wet and heavy as often as it comes light, and the heavy kind is what tests a truck, a blade and a patient hand on the throttle. Piles get placed where they will not run back across the pavement once the sun finally gets on them. By the time the town is stirring, the way in and the way out are open.
