Steve's lawn service

About Steve's lawn service

April in Byesville starts on the hill above town, where the redbud lights up the woods before anything down on the brick side streets has fully woken up. Steve's lawn service takes the first cuts of the year up there and along the ridge roads that run out toward the Salt Fork country, when the grass is thick and wet and still deciding what kind of spring it wants to be. Through the summer it settles into a steady rhythm: even passes, close trimming at the steps and the sandstone wall, clippings blown off the drive rather than left to sit. Guernsey County ground is rarely flat, so a lawn is mowed the way the hill wants to be mowed, and it looks right for it. In the fall the leaves get cleaned up and hauled, and the yard is handed over to winter without a mess left behind.
