Brannan's Best Blades

About Brannan's Best Blades

Down in Adams County the hills come up close and the ground goes to limestone and cedar, so no two yards in Bratton are the same shape twice. Brannan's Best Blades mows them anyway — around the ledge, along the fenceline, down the bank toward the creek where the grass grows coarse and the footing stays soft. Summer is loud with insects and heavy with heat by ten in the morning, so cutting starts early and the trimming follows the shade around the house. Edges run out to the gravel, the walk gets blown off, and by evening the place reads tidy from the road below. When the Brush Creek hillsides turn and let go, all of that comes down in the yard too, and it gets cleared.
