Breakthrough Lawns

About Breakthrough Lawns

The ground under Bowling Green still remembers the Great Black Swamp — heavy clay that holds water long after an April rain has quit. Breakthrough Lawns works with that soil rather than against it, timing the first cut of the year for when the yards firm up and the grass finally decides to grow. From there it becomes a steady rhythm: mowing, trimming, edging, and hauling off the winter's litter of sticks and matted leaves. There is a particular pleasure in the moment a lawn turns the corner in early May, deep green and evenly cut, the borders crisp again. That is the result the whole season is aimed at, week after week across a long Ohio summer.
