Norton's ridges are open country by Akron standards, and open country means wind — a driveway can be plowed clean at nine and drifted shut by eleven. H & T Enterprises plans for the second pass as much as the first, moving snow far off the pavement so there is room when the next band arrives. Walks and entries are shoveled and treated; the piles get set downwind where they will not blow back across the lane. Out toward the Barberton line the sky can be enormous and completely white, and still the drives get opened. It is stubborn work for a stubborn stretch of Summit County.
