Pen and Plow

About Pen and Plow

Wolcott sits close enough to Lake Ontario that the sky over Port Bay writes the forecast an hour ahead of the radio. Pen and Plow is out under it before dawn, pushing lake-effect snow off driveways while the flakes are still coming sideways. Walks are shoveled and sanded, and the mailbox end of the drive gets opened back up after the county plow buries it. There is a specific quiet in a finished driveway at first light, with nothing left to do but leave. Storm after storm, the same roads, the same order, all winter.
