Chatterton Hill in June and Chatterton Hill in January are two different countries, and Bellantoni Landscape keeps a key to both. Summer is mowing on the diagonal, trimming close in around the stone steps, blowing the clippings off the walk so the lawn looks like it was drawn rather than cut. Winter is that same slope at four in the morning — plow down, salt out, the hill made passable one length at a time. Spring cleanups carry off the ruin February leaves in the beds, and autumn leaf work moves the maples along before a wet week mats them into the grass. The pleasure of it is continuity: the same ground, tended the whole way around the year.
