September takes the maples on the West Seneca side streets one branch at a time, and the lawns underneath keep growing right through the color show. Late-season cutting is quieter work — cooler mornings, slower grass, more leaves to deal with each pass. Getting a yard down clean before the ground hardens sets it up to come back thick when the peepers start again in spring.
