Late in October the wind comes down the river past Bowline Point and strips the yards of West Haverstraw in about three days flat. Mark Iodice Landscaping is there for it with fall cleanup — leaves off the lawn, beds emptied, the final cut taken short so nothing mats down over the winter. The rest of the season is steady mowing, trimming and edging, week on week from the first warm stretch in spring. Under the ridge the evening shade arrives early here, which is a mercy in August and a good reason to start the route on the sunny side. Grass handled the same way every time stays easy to handle.
