The Genesee River runs north out of Wellsville, and by late March it is carrying the last of the winter down out of the valley. G&T Landscaping and Excavation works both ends of that turn — plowing driveways and lots open while the ridges still hold their snow, then coming back with mowers once the river flats go green. There is a particular satisfaction in a drive cleared before the first car needs it, and in an edge cut so cleanly the line looks drawn. Wellsville sits low between long hills, so weather here arrives all at once and leaves slowly, and the work is timed to that. Spring and fall cleanups close each season out, so the ground gets handed to the next one tidy.
