About D. Ragno Landscaping

October in Pelham smells faintly of the Sound, and the Hutchinson River slides along under a ceiling of turning oaks. D. Ragno Landscaping spends that month clearing leaves off lawns hemmed by Tudor gables and old stone steps, work that has to be repeated as fast as the trees can undo it. Earlier in the year it is mowing on a steady week, trimming around the plantings, edging where turf meets slate. The growing season runs long this close to the water, and a lawn kept even through it holds up right into November. Neat ground under handsome houses — that is the whole ambition, and it is enough.
