Rustic Roots

About Rustic Roots

North toward Little York the lake holds the afternoon heat, and the old apple trees throw the kind of shade a lawn actually enjoys. Rustic Roots keeps Cortland yards through that green stretch — regular mowing, trimmed edges around trunks and posts and stone, spring openings and the long fall work of clearing leaves. Shade grass and sun grass want different treatment in the very same yard, and noticing the difference is the job. There is quiet pride in a mown lawn under old trees, everything even, nothing scalped down to the roots. The place ends up looking like somebody's hands have been in it all summer.
