Most people meet the name Ticonderoga stamped on a yellow pencil, but the town itself is all water and stone, set on the neck of land where Lake George pours down into Lake Champlain. The La Chute River makes that drop right through the middle of town, loud with falls in spring and soft as a whisper by August.
